This article really deals with trying to make the entire process as simple as possible, because I know we’ve discussed how people have the perception that writing is difficult. One of the shortcuts that I’ve found that works best for me is when I don’t have to write anything, and everything is done for me. One of the best self-published products that I can think of where that is the case is products that are just a compilation of actual real-life examples.

Let me give you an example to really explain what I’m talking about. A couple of years ago when a friend of ours’ wife was wanting to create a resume to get a job as a veterinarian, they went to the bookstore, and there were literally dozens and dozens of books on how to write a resume. These things were huge - a hundred pages, two hundred pages - and you had to read the whole thing just to figure out how in the heck to write a resume.

There’s a company that has a book full of actual business letters so that if you need to write a certain type of letter, maybe a collection letter or something like that, you can flip to page 243, see how someone else wrote a collection letter, and write yours along those same lines.

Another option is business forms. Maybe you’re not sure what type of business forms. You can create a compilation of all sorts of different types of business forms and sell that to businesses.

1. Indicate who the reporter should contact, including your name, address, and home and office telephone numbers.

This is just a simple matter of taking the little text and such that directs people to that icon and then to your page. You click it and just add it into your web site.

Find three or four things that you can go right out and start doing immediately. That’s it!

Put your web site address on everything. This goes for e-mail, as well. People will e-mail you for information. Once we turned our clients onto this idea, they started sending us photos and letters showing us things they’ve done with their web address.

In fact, we’ve literally seen that if it’s not moving, they tend to slap their URL on them when they get going. It can actually be fun. Give the e-mail address. Put it in your store window, if you’ve got a store. Put it on your sign out front by the road, if you have one. That way people driving by can see it. Stick it in every ad you ever run. Stick it on your business cards and your stationary. This goes one step further.

Most of us have seen the catalogs with the give-away promotional items. Put your e-mail or web site address on pens or pencils. They’re like little five second this and ten second that ads, and half of them have a web site address on them. They’re already catching on, especially on the cable channels. Put your web address or your e-mail address everywhere. We saw it on the back window of one of our customer’s car, just the web address. He was driving around, and anybody seeing that car sees the address. He might be drawing 20 or 30 potential customers a day.

Another customer sent us a picture of a race car that he drives on the circuit. He put his web address in huge letters across the side of the car. Just imagine, if you just look around a little bit, you’ll find ways you can’t even think of. Any place where people walk by, look, or see. Stick your web address there. It’s that simple!

The more you know about your market, the more likely you are to sell them something. So, try to think of the one friend you have that would be the most interested in your product. Don’t actually use their name, but put a lot of “you’s” in the copy. Make it personal, as if you were writing a letter telling them about this product they will love. Tell them all about it and how it is something they want and need, and then tell them where they can get it!

Therefore, marketers want to find a way to take that risk off of the shoulders of their prospects. And guarantees are one of the foremost ways of doing so!

“We’ll refund your money,” can sound negative to a prospect. It can call in mind a grudgingly slow wait, and the company doing whatever they can to keep that cash in its checking account.

On the other hand, the picture called up by offering to “buy back” a product can be very different. It sounds friendlier, and less grudging. When you buy something you tend to lose the money instantly, leading them to believe that they’ll get their money quicker.

In your offers, tell prospects that you’ll buy back their products. It may be no different from a refund guarantee, but it won’t be perceived that way. Prospects will feel much more positive about spending their money on your products and, as a result, you could potentially make a lot more money!
